While I am not the most crafty person {I don’t own a glue gun and don’t possess the patience for scrapbooking}, I thought this would be a fun project for this party. I knew I wanted to feature succulents {as opposed to flowers}, but didn’t love how boring the terra cotta pots looked {especially in candlelight} and thought they needed a bit of a makeover, courtesy of gold and white spray paint and a chic chevron print.
The taping process may look complicated, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes pretty quick, especially in front of bad reality television. In the interests of full disclosure, Matt did most of the leg work here; I supervised.
Instructions after the jump…
List of supplies:
- Terra cotta pots {I bought mine for 99¢ at a garden nursery}
- 1 can of white spray paint
- 1 can of gold spray paint
- 3/4 inch painters tape
- Utility {X-Acto} knife
Step 1: Spray paint the outside and tops of all pots with white spray paint, following the instructions on the can. Let dry completely.
Step 2: Tape a row of chevrons across the pot using the painters tape. Use a utility knife to remove extra tape in order to make sharp, clean points. Tape another row about 3/4 inch {or the same thickness of the painters tape} above the first row. Repeat until pot is complete. It helps to tear off bits of tape in similar lengths and stick them to an edge of a table so they are easy to apply.
Step 3: Spray paint the outside and tops of all pots with gold spray paint, following the instructions on the can. Let dry completely.
Step 4: Remove tape carefully.
Step 5: Pot as desired!

What a genius way to jazz up pots! I think I can actually handle it. You’re the best Linds!
Thanks my dear Anto! I am sure you can handle it! Or, you can do what I did and put Brad to work! 🙂 Love and miss you! xo
