spring cleaning!

After a few months of blogging using an out-of-the-box wordpress.com theme, I was beginning to feel a little uninspired.  I found myself becoming annoyed with some of the constraints of the theme I was initially drawn to because of its classic, minimalistic vibe {Manifest}, namely, the lack of a sidebar.  It was time for something new, something fresh, something a bit more personalized.  Enter Victoria from Vivaleur.

I am not sure how I first discovered Victoria’s blog vmac+cheese, a beautiful lifestyle blog featuring fashion, beauty, general life advice and recipes {Victoria studied at the California Culinary Institute here in San Francisco}, but I have been a rabid follower ever since.  There is something so relatable about Victoria and her writing – after reading only a few posts, you feel as if you know her, as if she is already a long-time friend.   Not only that, but Victoria is an amazingly talented businesswoman and graphic designer.  I met with her a few months ago to pick her brain about this whole blogging thing – she is incredibly knowledgable and I sat there, rapt with attention and honestly in awe – just trying to take it all in.  She also just launched a new business venture called The B Bar, which offers downloadable e-books that cover all manner of topics related to blogging, social media, and working online {which Victoria and her business partner dubbed “cocktails”}. What a fantastic idea!

Having loved that experience so much, I decided to work with her on a redesign of my site.  After filling out a questionnaire, Victoria came up with a “moodboard” – a collection of images, fonts and colors to summarize my aesthetic vision for the blog.  I was amazed by how much Victoria seemed to immediately understand my personal style and the general vibe I was going for.  As soon as I saw it, I knew she “got me.”

Fast forward a few weeks and voilà – here is the new site!  I couldn’t be more enamored with it.  Sure, perhaps it doesn’t look like a traditional food blog, but that’s what I like about it – it’s clean, modern yet {hopefully} timeless.  And I loved every minute of working with Victoria – her timeliness, her responsiveness, her ability to completely understand and execute on my “vision” – she completely exceeded my expectations on every level.  For anyone who is looking to do a little spring cleaning, I highly recommend this talented lady.  Thank you so much Victoria!  xo

  1. I love your new site, it’s everything you said. I have been thinking of making a change also.

  2. Love the new look! It really inspires me to overhaul my own design. Will keep Victoria in mind

  3. It is looking great, very versatile and clean. Although I’m happy with my theme, after my first few months, I am now wanting to review a few aspects of my layout, etc. Alas, I have not time at the moment so things like my messy recipes index will just have to wait! Thanks for making me think about more about it though.

  4. oh la la…love your new site..beautifuly done…many blessings for your new “home” 🙂 …sarah

Love the new look, but then I didn’t mind you former choice either. I made a quick decision about my theme just to get me started. It’s needed lots of tweaking and still does. Is it difficult to change over and still keep your archive?

  7. Thank you so much for your sweet words! I’m so so happy you had a great experience and I love what we came up with together too! Happy blogging! 🙂
